Why Blazer

Blazer bay boats: built in Florida, built to fish

Blazer has been building fishing boats by hand in Pensacola, Florida, since 1978. Here’s what goes into every one, and the questions to ask before you buy any bay boat.

Call us at 386-873-4610 or stop by the lot in DeLand to see the Blazer lineup in person.

Your 5 questions, answered

These are the questions we’d ask about any bay boat, answered for a Blazer.

1. Is a bay boat right for how I fish?

If you fish the flats, the backcountry and the nearshore Gulf or Atlantic, a bay boat does it all. Most Blazer bay boats draw just 10 to 13 inches fully loaded, so you can get skinny on the flats, and their wide, stable hulls give you a solid platform for casting and a confident ride when the bay gets choppy. They’re also family friendly, with room for the whole crew on sandbar days.

2. What size do I need?

Blazer builds bay boats from about 21 to 27 feet. The 22- to 24-foot range is the sweet spot for most Florida anglers: shallow enough for the flats, big enough for a day nearshore, and easy to trailer and store. Tell us where you fish, how many people you bring and what you tow with, and we’ll help you find the right fit.

3. How much horsepower does it need?

Each Blazer has a recommended horsepower range. The Blazer 2440, for example, is rated from 250 to 350 hp, with 300 recommended. We rig Blazers with Suzuki and Mercury outboards and match the power to how you fish, not to a sales goal.

4. What’s it built from? Is there any wood?

No wood. Every Blazer is 100% composite, with a foam-filled fiberglass stringer system and a high-density foam transom. There’s nothing in the hull to rot. See “Built to last” below for the full build.

5. What’s covered under warranty?

Blazer backs its bay boats with a 10-year limited warranty on the hull, stringers and transom, starting from the day the first owner buys the boat, and it can be transferred once within the first three years.* In the rare case you ever need it, our factory-certified technicians take care of Blazer warranty work right here in our shop.

Built in Florida since 1978

Blazer Boats was started in 1978 by Lonnie and Keith Craft, who spent more than four decades building it into one of the Gulf Coast’s best-known fishing boat brands. The company has since changed hands, and it still builds every boat in the same Pensacola, Florida, factory.

Every Blazer is built by hand at the company’s factory in Pensacola, Florida. The people building them have decades of experience in composite boatbuilding, and they watch every step. Blazer’s goal isn’t to build the most boats; it’s to build the best ones.

Their motto says it plainly: high performance boats for high performance anglers. Blazer bass boats are run by touring pros, and the same performance-first thinking goes into every bay boat.

Built in Florida for Florida water, then sold and serviced by a family business right here in DeLand.

Built to last: how a Blazer is made

A bay boat takes a beating: chop, salt, sun, oyster bars and heavy outboards. Here’s how Blazer builds one to handle it.

100% composite. No wood. There’s no plywood in the stringers, transom or floor of a Blazer, so there’s nothing to soak up water and rot. That’s the most common reason older fiberglass boats fail, and Blazer designed it out.

Hand-laminated hull. Every hull is laid up by hand. Builders start with gel coat, then apply alternating layers of fiberglass mat and woven fiberglass around Coremat, a core fabric that adds stiffness and impact resistance, laminating each layer by hand as it goes on.

Foam-filled fiberglass stringer system. The stringer grid that gives the hull its backbone is foam-cored and fully encapsulated in fiberglass, so it’s stiff, strong and won’t rot.

High-density foam transom. The transom is built from bonded composite layers rated for powerful outboards, so it stays solid under a big motor and a jack plate for the life of the boat.

Foam-filled hull cavities and a composite floor. The voids in the hull are filled with foam, and the floor is composite, which adds strength and makes for a quieter, more solid ride.

Saltwater-ready hardware. Stainless steel hardware, latches, hinges and fasteners resist corrosion. Wiring and cables run through PVC conduit to keep them protected. Many models also get a heavy-duty rub rail with a stainless insert.

Molds checked before every build. Blazer inspects its molds before each boat is built, so every hull comes out precise and consistent.

Every Blazer we sell is rigged, inspected and delivered by our own factory-certified service team.

Warranty

10-year limited warranty on Blazer bay boats. Covers the hull, stringers and transom for 10 years from the date the boat is sold to its first retail owner. If you sell your Blazer within the first three years, the warranty can be transferred once to the next owner for the rest of the 10-year term.*

Limited lifetime warranty on Blazer bass boats. Covers the hull, stringers and transom for as long as the first retail owner owns the boat. It can be transferred once, within the first five years, and then covers the second owner until 10 years from the original purchase date.*

Because every Blazer is 100% composite with no wood in the structure, it’s built to stay solid for years on the water.

And in the rare case your Blazer ever needs warranty work, you won’t be hauling it back to Pensacola. Our factory-certified technicians take care of it right here in our shop in DeLand.

*Limited warranty for recreational, non-commercial use. See the full Blazer warranty for terms and conditions; ask us for a copy.
